Soundhound App

If you’re like me and you hear a song for the first time (actually could be 100th time) and it instantly has you humming and after the tenth day you need to know the title/ artist so you can buy it then SoundHound is the app for you.

SoundHound is one of those apps that you aren’t going to use everyday, but it is so handy. If you are familiar with Shazam, it’s similar— it lets you use the microphone in your iPhone/ iPad to recognize music that’s playing. SoundHound takes that concept further though, recognising not only recorded music, but also humming and singing into the mic. It’s rather uncanny how well it actually works!

The use of SoundHound is simple — touch the large “What’s That Sound?” button and play music, sing or hum into the microphone for a few seconds. Once the recording is done, it takes just a few seconds for the sound to be recognised. From there you are given a list of possible songs. For each of the songs you can get more info about it and many you will be able to play video clips of.

In my opinion SoundHound easily beats Shazam. It’s much faster than Shazam in song recognition. And the app is especially great for car rides, cafes or bars. It keeps a list of every song you've identified, and you can buy songs or find lyrics with one simple click.
