Simple Tips To Save Money

04-Apr-2011 By SD
Here are a few pointers on how to save some money:

1. Buy in bulk. You will always use toilet paper, washing detergent, laundry powder etc. Identify products that have a long shelf life and buy the biggest version you can carry and store. Invariably you save money when purchasing larger quantities.

2. Wash Your Car. Water restrictions have eased off, so now there is no excuse. Put on your Daisy Dukes, crank up some tunes and get some exercise at the same time.

3. Compare Prices Online. There are some great online sites that do all the leg work for you. The savings you can make are substantial. It’s a cliché, but why pay more? Download the Smart Phone apps so you are always ready to check and compare, even when on the go.

4. See a mortgage broker. Even if you already have a mortgage, it is good to check in with a broker every 2-3 years to make sure you are on the best available mortgage for your needs. It won’t cost you anything but could save you thousands. And with most banks now offering zero exit fees, it makes even more sense to move your mortgage around if that is what’s best for you.

5. Consolidate your Superannuation. Most superannuation funds charge account keeping fees so why pay more than you have to? Transferring is usually an easy process – just completing a few simple forms. When you retire you’ll appreciate that extra cash!
