Nielsen Park Sydney

There are many great parks in and around Sydney but one of my favourites has to be Nielson Park, Greycliff Ave, Vaucluse. Here are some of the reasons why:

1. The park is located on one of Sydney’s inner city beaches so you get that wonderful combination of a huge park flowing on to a lovely beach. And because it is an inner city beach, the waves are mostly quite small, making it an ideal place for families. They also have the added safety measure of a shark net permanently installed.

2. The views are spectacular as you overlook Clifton Gardens on the other side of the harbour. Plus the harbour is almost always filled with spectacular sailing boats flying by in all their coloured glory, which you can watch for hours.

3. Relative to other beach and picnic locations, there is a fair amount of parking and it is free!

4. It has a lovely friendly, family feeling to the place.

5. It has a kiosk there if you need any essential supplies, but most people opt for the BYO picnic. Make sure you bring your own chairs though (if you don’t like sitting on the ground) as there are not many picnic benches, nor are there any BBQ’s.

6. There are a few event venues there as well, but they have been tastefully restored and work in well to the existing environment So well worth a visit on a beautiful Sydney day!
