Josef Chromy Pepik Pinot Noir 2009

22-May-2011 By Simon
Classy, cool-climate Tasmanian Pinot - I'm a fan. It’s typically light and has cherry and red fruits up front. There are some tannins but not many, and a gentle oak influence. I've been buying this and the corresponding chardonnay for a while now, and they will both cellar in the short term.

I like the fact that it is light (but not at all watery), while retaining varietal character. The Josef Chromy wines across the board (that I've tried, anyway) are consistently good, and I thoroughly recommend the Pepiks for being top quality at the entry-level. Beautiful in its simplicity, this wine is a delightful way to end the day (you can take my word for it) and best of all it’s only $20 a bottle.
