Havana Rakatan
19-Jun-2011 By SimonHavana Rakatan was an amazing production showcasing the history of Cuban music, almost a collection of short sketches based in different eras of the country's history.
You can see the original rhythms of Africa and the power of the Spanish conquistadores' flamenco, and how they have merged as the people merged. The dancers are breathtakingly talented and will have you gasping with awe. The musicians and singers paint a musical landscape that will have you believing you are walking the streets of Havana with them.
There's just the right note of humour blended with the skillful portrayal of different eras in Cuba's colourful and enchanting history. A note to all involved in the production - Thank you for an amazing evening!
If you can't go to cuba then let Cuba come to you!!! Viva Cuba!!
